Technical leadership for companies that need momentum, not theatre.

I help founders, executives, and product teams make better technical decisions, improve delivery, and adopt AI in ways that create actual operating advantage.

Where I tend to be most useful.

I usually work best with companies that are past the pure idea stage and are starting to feel the strain of growth: more customers, more expectations, more delivery pressure, and more ways for things to quietly go sideways.

The work is practical and outcome-focused. Sometimes that means acting as a fractional CTO. Sometimes it means a short, sharp intervention to untangle delivery, assess the platform, or help the team adopt AI without turning the engineering process into a slot machine.

Fractional CTO

Ongoing senior technical leadership without the cost or commitment of a full-time executive hire.

Useful when

  • You need technical leadership but are not ready for a full-time CTO.
  • Founders are carrying too many product and technology decisions themselves.
  • The team is growing, but delivery habits have not grown with it.

What I do

Provide technical direction, delivery structure, architecture guidance, hiring support, team coaching, stakeholder translation, and pragmatic decision-making.

Outcome

Clearer priorities, better technical decisions, stronger delivery confidence, and fewer expensive surprises.

Delivery Rescue

For teams that are busy, stressed, and somehow still not shipping the right things reliably.

Useful when

  • Deadlines keep moving and confidence is low.
  • Everyone is working hard but the business still feels exposed.
  • Quality, scope, stakeholder expectations, or process have become tangled.

What I do

Diagnose the delivery system, identify bottlenecks, simplify the plan, improve feedback loops, and put sensible quality gates around the work.

Outcome

A calmer delivery rhythm, clearer ownership, better visibility, and a plan the team can actually execute.

AI Workflow Adoption

Practical help using AI and agentic development workflows without accidentally industrialising chaos.

Useful when

  • The business wants AI productivity gains but the delivery model is not ready.
  • Developers are experimenting with agents, but quality and review are inconsistent.
  • Leadership needs a grounded adoption plan beyond demos and hype.

What I do

Design workflows for AI-assisted delivery, including better briefs, context management, review stages, QA gates, implementation boundaries, and team training.

Outcome

Faster delivery experiments with more control, less rework, and a better chance of surviving real users.

Technical Review & Due Diligence

A clear-eyed assessment of product, platform, team, risks, and what needs attention next.

Useful when

  • You are investing in, acquiring, or partnering with a software business.
  • You need to understand technical risk before a major decision.
  • You suspect the platform story and the platform reality may not be best friends.

What I do

Review architecture, delivery process, product maturity, team capability, operational risk, technical debt, and the practical roadmap from here.

Outcome

A plain-English view of risk, opportunity, trade-offs, and the actions that matter most.

The Right Fit

Clear, practical technical leadership aligned to business outcomes.

Useful when

  • Founders, CEOs, or product leaders need practical help making technology deliver on the business case.
  • You want substance over buzzwords, decks, and “transformation” noise.
  • You need someone who can translate between technical teams and business stakeholders.

What I do

Work directly with your team and stakeholders to understand the real problems, cut through ambiguity, and focus on what actually matters.

Outcome

Clear, actionable plans that make sense at board level and translate cleanly into concrete technical execution.

Not sure what kind of help you need?

That is often the starting point. Send me the messy version and I'll get you to a point of clarity.
